Texas Deer Associaation

Over 20 years ago Slim Crapps a founding member of the T.D.A. and current board member had a vision. An outdoor enthusiast since childhood, Slim set out to create a whitetail breeding facility and hunting ranch like no other before, and in 1988 one of the largest scientific whitetail programs in the country VLC Whitetail Ranch was born!

VLC Whitetail Ranch began to enhance and improve their native deer herd through the selective culling of inferior animals, but more importantly, through the introduction of genetically superior South Texas whitetail bucks and does. VLC Whitetail Ranch scientific breeder program is now made up of more than 500 high quality deer from 30 different bloodlines, which yield over 100 bucks, and 100 does per year. After experiencing limited success with the importation of northern whitetail due to blue tongue and other health problems in the early years, VLC Whitetail Ranch then focused on pure, native South Texas stock. The fruit of their efforts is now evident in the tremendous antler growth and impressive body weights that are being produced and improved year after year.

In order to facilitate the maintenance of genetic superiority and diversity, VLC Whitetail Ranch has a long established commitment to habitat preservation and enhancement. Native plant species high in nutritional value are fostered and expanded throughout the breeder areas, grow out pastures, and their many different ranches. In addition, all deer are provided with free choice, high protein supplemental feed throughout their lifetimes.

VLC Whitetail Ranch is currently selling a limited number of bucks from 2 - 4 years of age, as well as big beautiful bred does and all sales are based on guaranteed live delivery. VLC Whitetail Ranch encourages anyone interested in raising truly spectacular whitetail to visit their ranch, tour the facilities, and learn first hand some of the "do's" and "don't s" of the business. Anyone that is familiar with the VLC Whitetail Ranch standard of excellence won't be surprised!
