Over 20 years ago Slim Crapps a founding member of the T.D.A. and emeritus board member had a vision. An outdoor enthusiast since childhood, Slim set out to create a whitetail breeding facility and hunting ranch like none other before. In 1988 one of the largest scientific whitetail programs in the country VLC Whitetail was born!

In July of 2008 Sheldon and Zanna Grothaus purchased the VLC operation and combined it with their existing business Texas Whitetail Breeders to create one of the finest whitetail breeding operations in Texas.
